Qld: Body found in search for missing deckhand

BRISBANE, Aug 27 AAP - A helicopter crew searching for a missing deckhand off south-east
Queensland has spotted a body in the water.

Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) spokesman Ben Mitchell said the body was
spotted around 8am (AEST) off Burnett Heads, near where the 42-year-old man was believed
to have fallen from a fishing trawler around midday yesterday.

The man was not wearing any safety equipment but the skipper of the trawler had reported
that he may have been clinging to a 10-litre plastic container.

Mr Mitchell said a small drum had been tied to the body.

Police will retrieve the body from the water and it will be taken to Bundaberg for
identification.
