Vic: CFA arsonist jailed over grass fires
MELBOURNE, Feb 27 AAP - A volunteer firefighter who started two grass fires in Melbourne'soutskirts by shooting sparklers from a crossbow was today jailed for three-and-a-halfyears.
The County Court heard Kevin Raymond Regnier, 32, was a member of the Sydenham CountryFire Authority (CFA) when he lit the fires at Rockbank in March and May 1997, on Melbourne'souter west.
On each occasion, Regnier shot a lighted sparkler tied to a chopstick from a crossbowinto very dry pasture.
